Crescent Heights was founded in 1895 by Archibald J. McArthur. It is located in the northwest quadrant of Calgary, Alberta and was originally incorporated as a village on May 1, 1908.  It was subsequently annexed by the City of Calgary in 1911 and established as a neighbourhood in 1914.  It is located in the inner city immediately north from downtown, being bounded to the north by the Trans-Canada Highway, on the west by 4th Street NW, on the east by Edmonton Trail, and to the south by Memorial Drive and the Bow River. The 2014 Calgary Civic Census reported a population of 6,235, with 3,370 occupied dwellings, of which 40% were owner-occupied. The north boundary of the community, specifically the 16th Ave N corridor, is part of the Crescent Heights Area Redevelopment Plan and continues to go through a huge transformation to accommodate the LRT route and commercial business redevelopment.

The Crescent Heights Community Association located at 1101-2nd St NW, Calgary, Alberta, was organized in 1947 and incorporated in 1948. Its purpose is to arrange community recreational projects and physically improve the district. As of February 2015, the association has 172 members/households. The association has numerous volunteer opportunities and requires only a valid membership to participate. Regular meetings are held at the community centre to give residents an overview of the progress of the Area Redevelopment Plan.  The Pentecostal Church holds a public service there from 10 am - noon on Sundays, and hall rentals are also available.
