Located east of the Calgary International Airport, Martindale is located in the northeast quadrant of Calgary, Alberta.  It was annexed into the city in 1961, being established in 1983. It is bounded to the south by 64 Avenue N, to the north by 80 Avenue N, to the east by Falconridge Boulevard and to the west by 44 Street E. The LRT station was constructed in 2011. The 2014 Calgary Civic Census reported a population of 14,761 with 3,950 occupied dwellings and 75% of those were owner-occupied. It is represented in Calgary City Council by Ward 5 councillor, Ray Jones.


Martindale does not have an physical community centre, but nevertheless the Martindale Community Association takes an active interest in the community. On an annual basis, they sponsor students to attend the YMCA summer program and host a number of events each year such as Stampede dinners, kids’ movie nights, skate parties on a community skating rink, a silent auction, and dance night. The skating rink doubles as a skateboard park in the summer and several teen entrepreneurs have a snack shop set up nearby. Martindale maintains a good relationship with the neighbouring communities of Castleridge and Falconridge. The community does not offer any youth programs at present but residents are welcome to take part in the extensive programs offered at these nearby communities.
