Located in the northwest quadrant of Calgary, Alberta, Scenic Acres is a residential neighbourhood that was annexed by the City of Calgary in the 1960’s and established in 1981. It is bounded to the east by Nose Hill Drive, to the west by Stoney Trail, to the north by Crowchild Trail and to the south by Nose Hill Drive. It is represented by Ward Sutherland, who is the Councillor for Ward 1. According to the 2014 Calgary Civic Census, Scenic Acres had a population of 8,595 with 2,898 occupied dwellings. Of this amount, 96% were owner-occupied.

Scenic Acres NW Calgary Community Details


Located on the interior of the community, the Scenic Acres Community Association is located at 8825 Scurfield Drive NW.  It was formed in 1985 when only about 10% of the community was developed. The building of the community centre actually occurred in 1997. There was a further extension of the centre in 2004, with the addition of volleyball courts in 2006, and in 2007 skating rinks were added.  In the development stages of this community, the threshold of population was moved down from 16,000 to 9,500 by upscaling lot sizes which allowed for a more upscale feel to the community.  Members of the Scenic Acres Community Association have access to a wide variety of events throughout the year including an annual Stampede Breakfast, Fall Fair, Movie in the Park, and a Community Christmas party.
